It's the second day since we came to American. Today Yang He and I go to the Johnson Center attending the orientation for international students. We've arrived a second later because we are not familiar with the roads there. This is also the second time travelling in the GMU campus. It is like a beautiful big garden locating at the foot of hills, with a peaceful lake and wild ducks and geese (should be some, but I have not seen them by now)..The orientation is not very informative but snacks pretty good. A girl with blonde hair at nearby table kept eating things when the instructor talked: grapes, melons, juice and cakes.. I am sitting on the ground floor, the hall of Johnson Center. It's really cool and convenient for students: grocery stores, bookstores, food stands, library with open shelves so that you can pick up any book interesting at your will, and free access into internet. Several staff at the near desk are talking in Chinese.. By now we have hunt down with quite a lot big things, such as finding the apartment for Yang He and her future roommates, purchasing the cellphone plan and reporting to the University office and attending the oritentation. What's more important, we've got more familiar with the environment than what we were two days before. And this is because we have met with quite some good persons with nice character, like say our landlord, who came from Pakistan in 1973. Actually I don't feel too much difference here from what I felt in Shanghai, maybe it is bacause there are also a lot of Americans in Shanghai, and it is only my first couple of days here by far we've not come across with big troubles.. However, when I came to myself from "deep dreams" (I usually have a lot of dreams when sleeping) I can hardly tell where I am: whether I was really here in Fairfax near Wahington DC or that I was still sleeping in my house in Pudong. I even dreamed of travelling back home by train from Northern China (which sounds a little weird) and it was "snowing" heavily outside the windows. I got up and found that it was three o'clock in the morning. I looked through the window of my hotel room located by the street near the Fairfax circle. The street lamps shed their mercury-like lights on the sleepingt cars in front of the hotel. It's so silent, with sporadically one or two vans driving through the cross of the main street. Then I came to realize that I am already in America now.
